Our Work

Energy Unlocked is an independent not-for-profit working internationally to make net zero energy systems transitions faster, smarter and fairer.

We partner with innovators, local authorities, communities and policymakers to support market-enabling conditions for people-focused, efficient and resilient solutions.

Recent Projects

NET ZERO SOUTHEND (REMeDY)

Delivering engagement and innovation support for one of the UK’s Prospering from the Energy Revolution grants to Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, developing a carbon footprint and net zero strategy alongside the REMeDY project

LONDON 24/7 CARBON FREE ENERGY PILOT

In partnership with Arup, Energy Unlocked and Quantenergy developed a pilot design and roadmap for how London can achieve faster grid decarbonisation through investing in their own buildings and ‘flexing’ them to reduce carbon.

CARBON FLEX

London, Lisbon, Durban.

Cities and local authorities are under pressure to rapidly achieve net zero. The Carbon Flex project looks at how to value matching energy demand to renewables more often, to save carbon.

What we do

CONNECTING INNOVATOR VOICES TO POLICY FOR NEW PERSPECTIVES

We have engaged 1,000s of innovators across US, Europe and Africa to support their individual journeys by creating conditions for their voices to be heard by policy makers. This supports new perspectives and voices to influence energy policy and energy market design.

PROGRAMMES FOR SCALING INNOVATION ALIGNED WITH SOCIAL OUTCOMES

By working with innovators in cities, we can get close to ground truth of the challenges they and their customers are facing in the energy transition. By designing and running programmes with local authorities that help them engage with innovators, we help those cities prepare to absorb innovation.

PILOTING TO SHOWCASE BEYOND-FOSSIL-FUEL ENERGY BUSINESS AND OPERATING MODELS

With AI and energy that underpin cities and finance at a crossroads of technological change, we have a once-in-a-century opportunity to change the energy transition to work for people and climate resilience at the same time we are achieving net zero.
